Monthly Edith 1

February 16th 2018

O N E   M O N T H

Our sweet Edith turned one month on the 3rd. She brings such a sweetness to our family and it has been nothing short of a blessing getting to know her.

Likes: driving in the car, being carried/sleeping in the Solly wrap, mama's voice, the Paci to sleep.

Dislikes: being set down for too long.

Jury is still out on baths. It takes her a bit of warming up for those. She truly is so patient with us and is such a happy girl most of the time. She's in 0-3 month clothes and size 1 diapers, weighing just over 10 lbs. We had a rough start with breastfeeding but is now nursing like a champ. Besides a little reflux issues it's going so well and that makes me so happy. I didn't put a ton of pressure on myself to nurse her due to how painful it was at the beginning. But with time, things have gotten better.

She has some pretty wild hair and awesome bed head hair after she naps. She has the most delicious milky breath and is the noisiest baby we know. Especially when she's waking up or trying to fall back asleep. Nicknames include Edie, lady, Wreny girl, sweetie Edie, sister, baby girl.

We are so thankful we were able to add her to our family.

The first month definitely wasn't easy. Painful, emotional, sleep deprived..trying to figure out our new roles as a family of four. Making sure we each had enough time together, enough time alone (which, lets be honest doesn't happen) and this nasty winter weather that didn't help. Everyone we knew around us were dropping like flies with some sickness or another. We hibernated to avoid it all. And I'm happy we did but nonetheless it was just hard.

We were blessed abundantly by family and friends with meals and treats and honestly it made it ten times easier not having to worry about meals. I reminded myself of the good, that things will get better, and over time a new normal (that we enjoyed) would emerge. At 6.5 weeks, I can say that we are doing well, we have that new normal, and it's all ok.

Adding this precious life to our family will always be the highlight of 2018! We love you Edith!

Newborn Photos: Edith Wren

February 16th 2018

We took Edith's newborn photos when she was 10 days old. Unlike her brother, who was fast asleep the whole time during his, she was wide awake and ready for her photo shoot! Lewis didn't want much to do with the photos but we were able to get some cute ones with him in the pic.

Her face in the above one is just too funny!

So small & so safe in her daddy's arms.

She already looks a bit different than she did in these photos. Going on 7 weeks old and chunking out! Still thanking God everyday for these two beautiful children that He's blessed us with. And still a bit in awe that we have a little girl.
